Wow. It’s been seriously long since my last post… since I last logged in to my blog and laid fingertips on this keyboard. Like old friends who haven’t seen each other in years, it feels like nothing has changed… but where do I begin?
Well, last friday I decided to go on an Instagram detox. Not sure why, but i’ve been feeling trapped on the app. Mindlessly scrolling…constantly checking for updates. Most of the time it’s not even a conscious choice i’m making, but a habitual one. “It’s work,” or thats what I tell myself. It felt as if I was in the virtual rat race of instagram, and I was not ready to relinquish power to an app. I needed to take control of the situation, so I temporarily deleted the app.
It’s only been two days, and I already feel like i’ve cleared up a lot of mental space. To ponder life, to read, to write. Everytime I unlock my phone to feed my instagram addiction, I diverted my attention to reading the news, or maybe go on whatsapp to actually connect with the humans I call friends. If I had more time to spare, then I would sit down to read a book, or write a blog post!
So, here I am, turning to my blog for creative expression. You have no idea how much joy this brings me because for the longest time, I thought I was done with blogging, ( more on this another day.)
IF you are reading this, I challenge you to take a weekend off social media. It might be a bit strange at first, but you will thank yourself later.
Anyway. Missed you. I will be back.
