It’s very easy to get caught up when you’re living in Hong Kong. Whether it’s being caught up in your own thoughts or a project you’re working on or a problem you’re having, the way the city is structured has an impact on how we focus on things. Because space is at a minimum, everything is built up, higher and taller. It’s almost as if it’s closing us in on our thoughts and problems, making it easy to get lost on less important matters.
Every so often, I stop and ask myself, will it matter a day from now? Will it matter two days from now? How about two weeks from now? It helps me bring things into perspective – sometimes what we’re panicking about or what we’re dwelling on isn’t such a big deal. It’s not the end of the world, and there’s definitely more than one solution to a problem. Stop, observe, and slow down. Things work out. Sometimes we just need a reminder that we’re doing well and the world is a good place. This is your reminder.
