Day one: Mauritius

The journey from Hong Kong to Mauritius was definitely one that required a bit of patience. There is only one (or two) direct flight per week from hk to Mauritius so if you miss the bus, you’re gonna have to do a layover somewhere. We went via Dubai, an 8 hour flight followed by a 3 hour layover, before boarding 6 1/2 hour flight to a place most call heaven on earth; Mauritius . (Not including delays)

Thanks to the arrangement of our resort we spotted our driver right away and with relieve proceeded to our final destination, the @shantimaurice.

Upon arrival you’re greeted with the usual chilled hand towel and welcome drink. In Mauritius, all your senses are heightened, colors are brighter, skies hang higher, the ocean crisper, and taste buds awaken.
After check in, we immediately changed and first things first, dipped our toes in the ocean. Lunch was next on my list, at the pebbles restaurant ( the main restaurant of the resort, where breakfast lunch and dinner is served daily) for the past 20 hours of traveling I’ve had the choice of chicken/ fish, soggy or overcooked. The lunch menu is fairly diverse with the usual European dishes for the less culinarily adventurous guests, pizza, pasta, sandwiches and burgers. I’m the try everything once kinda foodie so I gravitated towards the more exotic, Mauritian/ Indian dishes.
After lunch we took these photos, out by the beach, and then proceeded to kick back… And relax.
