Right before 2014 ended, Tods approached me to make a two part video for their pre spring and spring summer collection. I have been featured in a handful of videos before, I have even made a couple videos to enter into competitions when I was younger, but this time was different. I knew I wanted to explore this medium on a whole new level. (on a more professional level) The most excitable part of this project was that Tods gave me full reign of freedom in control and creativity, from start to finish! I can’t say I wasn’t nervous but when you let your mind run wild, it’s interesting what it finds inspiring. It’s been a while since i’ve had to be “creative,” which is why this project gave me such a rush every time I thought about it, I finally felt like I was doing what I loved again.

If you know me at all, starting the year off right is probably the most important in my agenda, so I wanted to start my blog year off with Part one of this video. I had so much fun producing this video with such an amazing team of people. I can’t wait to show you all Part Two (full version) of this project.

With this video, I wanted to show Tod’s versatility and spotlight the ready to wear collection, highlighting Alexandra Facchinetti’s work on the S/S 15 collection. I love the design direction of this collection, and its use of leather in clothing, shoes, and bags really show the great craftsmanship of the Tod’s brand.

The theme for this video is drawn from surrealism – the garments styled along with the accessories, like the bangles and necklaces, are a great way to show that fashion is also art. My inspiration for this video derives from iconic fashion artists and photographers, Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton, who both have showcased thought-provoking and creative images throughout their careers. I wanted viewers to see Tod’s classic style with a fresh, modern pair of eyes. =>
